Started in 2001, the Dot NAME generic domain extension is the sole TLD planned for personal websites only. These domains can be personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At the beginning, only 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you desired to book john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Existing third-level names remained running.

You will have the opportunity to modify the WHOIS details, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our firm if you obtain its EPP transfer authorization code from the present registration provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been done. There are no special conditions on who can obtain a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the idea behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
